The Child and Family Studies Laboratory (CFSL) is a teacher-training facility for BYU students majoring in Early Childhood Education or Family and Consumer Science Education. This allows us to offer a preschool taught by a licensed master teacher and 3-4 BYU students per class of 20 children.

In order to mentor these BYU students, the CFSL provides a developmentally appropriate preschool for children who are 4 years old by September 1, 2025 who will go into kindergarten the following year.

We focus on the individual needs of children as we teach to their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive areas of development. We offer an engaging, meaningful, play-based curriculum that fosters a life-long love of learning!

Application Procedures:

All applications must be completed by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025. Notification of acceptance or exact placement on the waiting list will be emailed by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025.

Placements are NOT made on a first-come-first-served basis*. Generally, placement is made in the following order: dependent children of full-time employees; full-time students; and then community applicants.

*Please note that after the application deadline passes, applications will added to our waitlist on a first-come-first serve basis. (Employment or student status does not apply to the waiting list.)

Each class accepts 20 children (10 boys and 10 girls). We operate two preschool classes in the morning and two classes in the afternoon, Monday through Thursday. In the registration form, you will have the opportunity to select your requested class time.

  • The AM classes operate from:
    • 8:15 - 10:45 (early out at 10:15 on Tuesdays)
    • 8:30 - 11:00 (early out at 10:30 on Tuesdays)
  • The PM classes operate from:
    • 12:30 - 3:00
    • 1:00 - 3:30

Tuition for the entire 2025-2026 preschool year is $1,700.

For those accepted on April 11th, a $170 deposit is required to confirm enrollment by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 1st. The remaining tuition is broken down into 9 monthly installments of $170 due on the 1st of each month, beginning August 1, 2025 and continuing through April 1, 2026.
